The “Horse Farm,” “Moncus Park,” or Lafayette Central Park are different names for the same place. Because the park has recently threatened to start charging for parking, we’ve been contacted by countless Lafayette area residents asking us to look into the park’s finances. Here’s what we found out.
This Warrants Further Investigation
Gone are the days when police officers stood in front of a camera to ask for the public to help find criminals with active warrants. Today, the less the public knows about crime rates and active warrants the better it is for those in law enforcement leadership. While this may not be the case in every corner of Louisiana, it’s certainly true in Lafayette Parish. In fact, the Lafayette Sheriff is so tight-lipped that he won’t provide the public with even the most generic data: like a number of active warrants!

These rulings could be a foreshadowing of things to come as the Army Corps of Engineers begins action to remove LCG’s Spoil Levee lawsuit to federal court.

Open letter to Lafayette’s downtown residents

Lafayette residents should not lose sight of the next tax…
Similar to Lafayette’s five recently created taxing districts, the solution is always the need for “more money.” However, the conversation gets interesting when you ask what they plan to spend the money on. In the case of the five taxing districts (now three-years old) the answer is, “we don’t know yet.” That scenario also fits nicely into the recent conversations about building a new jail.
